Today marks the beginning of the rest of our lives. Today is the day Jerry and I found out we are pregnant. We've been trying for about 6 months, and I must be honest- we were beginning to get worried. You think when all the "things" fall into place... love, work, house, etc. ... and you're ready to have a baby that it will just happen. It seems so easy and like everyone everywhere is getting pregnant, but that's not always the case. Nevertheless, we are thanking God, our lucky stars, and anyone else who needs thanking, because this is a dream come true.
We just celebrated our one year anniversary about 3 weeks ago, but we've always known we wanted children. Needless to say, we are over the moon!
I want to keep track of this, the pregnancy, the birth, and your baby years in hopes that someday you'll want to read all about it. So, I guess I'm writing TO you as well as for you sweet baby, and I hope that you enjoy learning about your mom and dad as well as yourself from a firsthand perspective!
I was packing for a trip to Lubbock and on the phone with one of my best friends, Jamie. Of course, J and I had been trying to conceive, and I was trying to stave off the urges to take a pregnancy test every day. Even though the trip was imminent, I let my impatience get the better of me. I took a test and tossed it on the counter as Jamie and I discussed our plans for meeting up for the weekend. A few minutes later, I looked down, and to my surprise the test was positive! Jamie received an earful of screams as I told her what was happening, then I quickly got off the phone so I could tell your Dad.
Since I wanted it to be a surprise, I sent Jerry a text asking if he wanted to meet up for lunch. He was at work in Conroe, and we don't often get together for lunch, so I was worried he might see through my little secret plan. Luckily, he didn't seem to notice so I grabbed the stick and jumped in the car. Funny enough though, on the way to see him I get a text from him that reads:
"Baby, I'm having deja-vu. I had a dream last night that you came to see me at work to tell me that we're having a baby girl!"
I could not believe it. It was ALL I COULD DO to bite my lip and laugh it off. I did NOT want to spoil this, because I knew it was going to be a huge moment, and I wanted to share that moment with him.
Finally I arrive, hand him the bag with the stick in it, and wait. He opens it, and of course- since he's a guy- he has no idea what the stick means, but it didn't take him long to figure it out. ;) We hugged and cried, and I think he even jumped around a little bit... but I'll let him give you his version. Needless to say, it was a very special day for us. One of many to come! :)
